Full of cheerful, partying, carefree, and colorful people, Piscinão has already received 60,000 people in its sands and waters in a weekend. My first big free show was at Piscinão de Ramos, during New Year's Eve of 2012, nine years ago, marking my career forever.

Others saw the Piscinão as a development that masked local pollution and did not provide a solution to the problem, among other theories and controversies.

The reason for its construction was controversial at the time. Many accused the government of maneuvering to attract voters, by giving people a safe recreational area, reducing illnesses caused by contact with pollution of surrounding waters and drowning on natural beaches.

The Piscinão uses saltwater from Guanabara Bay - since it's polluted, it goes through water treatment, thus recreating a real beach for public use.

Piscinão de Ramos was chosen to be the set of the "Girl From Rio" music video . Inaugurated in 2001, with 26.414m2, the huge artificial pool is located in the Maré neighborhood, in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro.
